Step #1: Open Your Project in Illustrator ~
✓ Open YOUR PROJECT in Illustrator and …

✓ … make a New Layer, and lock your other layers.
Step #3: Create a Line ~
✓ Get the Line Segment Tool or hit the keyboard shortcut (\) …
✓ … and drag a line across your artboard.
✓ Holding Shift keeps the line perfectly straight.
Step #4: Duplicate the Shape ~
✓ Now get the Selection Tool (shortcut letter v), hold Alt (⌥)/Option and copy the line.
Step #5: Cmd + d ~
✓ Redo the function by hitting Cmd(⌘)+d + four times …
✓ … for a total of 7 lines.
Step #6: Swatches ~
✓ Open Swatches or go to: Window > Swatches and click on Swatch Libraries Menu in the lower corner …
✓ … go to: Default Swatches > Basic RGB.

✓ … and select RED for the first line.
✓ Make sure to change the Fill to None and Stroke to RED.
✓ AGAIN: Make sure Fill if OFF !
Step #7: ROY G BIV ~
✓ ROY G BIV is the acronym for the colors of the RAINBOW = Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. Change each line accordingly.
Step #8: Blend Tool ~
✓ Get the Blend Tool or hit the keyboard shortcut letter (w) …
✓ … and click the first two lines.
✓ Blend all the lines this way.
Step #9: Drag to Brushes ~
✓ Open the Brushes palette or go to: Window > Brushes …
✓ … select all the lines, drag them into Brushes, hit "New Art Brush" …
✓ … lower the and hit OK.
Step #10: Pen Tool ~
✓ Get the Pen Tool or hit the keyboard shortcut letter (p) …
✓ … click ONCE on the artboard …
✓ … then Click-and-Pull to create a curved shape.
Step #11: Apply the Brush to the Line ~
✓ With the line selected, click the rainbow brush and see what happens.
Step #12: Feather ~
✓ Go to: Effect > Stylize > Feather and raise the Feathering to your specification …
