Step #1: Find a Font that Matches your Project ~

Go to http://www.dafont.com/ and search for a font that fits your project theme -

  •   For instance, if you want a text or font that looks Old, search for that at dafont.com.

OR

  •   If you want something that looks like Money, search for that. Get it?


Step #2: Download the Font ~

When you find a font that matches your project, Right-Click and save the file to your desktop, or somewhere you can find it …


Step #3: Open Font Book ~

Go to your Downloads (maybe: Window > Downloads), open it, and double-click on the .tff file(s) …

… when Font Book opens, click Install Font.


Step #4: Open Your Project in Photoshop ~

Open YOUR PROJECT in Photoshop

 

 

… (Remember: all these tutorials are intended to be
applied to YOUR PROJECT) …

… select the Horizontal Type Tool or hit the keyboard shortcut (t) …

… drag a box and type SOMETHING YOU CAN USE IN YOUR PROJCT!


Step#5: Select your Font ~

Select your text …

… click on Font Family in the menu bar and scroll through the different fonts.


Step#6: Warp Tool ~

Warp your text by clicking on the "Create warped text " button in the Menu Bar …

… select from the options …

After you finish typing, hit the Check mark in the upper menu bar or just hit "Enter."


Step #7: Blending Options ~

Then go to: Layer > Layer Style > Outer Glow

… and raise the size and spread of the glow so you can see the text clearly.


Step #8: Bevel and Emboss ~

Next, add Bevel and Emboss

… again, adjust the settings to make your text contrast against the background …


Step #9: Drop Shadow ~

Add a little Drop Shadow

… and try different Blending Options settings to create a unique style all your own.

The goal is to make the text contrast against the background …


Last Step: Save Your Project & Attach ~

Save your work as a .psd file [ firstname-lastname-projectname.psd]

Attach it and keep working …


  •   ALWAYS save your projects like this:
FIRST_NAME_LAST_NAME_PROJECT_NAME

 

  •   DO NOT name your project any other way - Improperly named projects will not receive credit and you will be sad.

 

  •   NEVER leave your work on the desktop or depend on a flash drive - instead, save your work in a folder you can find later - preferably on a virtual drive where it can be backed up.
